پیش از این در مقاله‌ای تحت‌ عنوان گوگل رسماً از Kotlin در برنامه‌‌نویسی اندروید پشتیبانی می‌‌کند، گفتیم که گوگل درصدد است تا علاوه بر زبان برنامه‌نویسی جاوا، زبان به نسبت جدید کاتلین را هم رسماً برای توسعهٔ اپ‌های اندرویدی ساپورت کند. حال در این مقاله قصد داریم نگاهی اجمالی به سینتکس این زبان بیندازیم.

پیش از پرداختن به سینتکس زبان برنامه‌نویسی کاتلین، در پاسخ به این سؤال که چرا گوگل دست به چنین تصمیم خطیری زده، بایستی بگوییم که این زبان از یکسری ویژگی‌های منحصر‌به‌فرد همچون افزایش سرعت توسعهٔ اپلیکیشن، اپن‌سورس بودن، سازگاری با زبان جاوا، انعطاف‌پذیری و غیره برخوردار بوده که آن‌ را به رقیب قدرتمندی برای جاوا مبدل کرده است که در مقاله‌ای تحت عنوان آشنایی با برخی از ویژگی‌های جذاب زبان برنامه‌نویسی کاتلین، به برخی از ویژگی‌های بارز این زبان توسعه یافته توسط کمپانی IntelliJ پرداختیم. حال نگاهی بیندازیم به سینتکس زبان برنامه‌نویسی Kotlin:
